Hello and welcome, everyone!
My interest in botanical illustration began around 10 years ago when I returned home to Scotland after living and working as a nurse in Canada for five wild and wonderful years. As a way to meet new friends, I took a beginners class at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh one morning a week. From the very first lesson, I was hooked! I loved every minute of all the more advanced courses I took after that early introduction, and I finally completed the Diploma in Botanical Illustration with a distinction in 2021.
Having moved with my family to Denmark in 2020 on another adventure, I am now living, painting, and working in the ancient city of Odense, which is a wonderful place full of parks and gardens, cobbled streets, church bells, and cafes. During the Covid lockdown, I discovered a passion for teaching painting and drawing classes online to small groups of friends, old and new. So when we moved to Denmark, we bought an old, abandoned garden that happened to also contain a small, very dilapidated but charming summerhouse. Now weekends are spent happily attempting to rescue this old and neglected place with the idea of transforming it into a painting studio and flower garden.
I am now a Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh instructor myself and looking forward to meeting students here and watching your artistic journeys develop and grow.
